The principal partner of the firm, Encik Hasnan Hamzah has been in active legal practice for more than 30 years. He has an exclusive experience as an Advocate & Solicitor, part-time Law Lecturer and as a former Public Prosecutor, under his belt.
He was a former Deputy Public Prosecutor in the Attorney General’s Chambers in 1989 where he was tasked as the State Deputy Public Prosecutor to oversee the criminal prosecutions in the state of Kedah and Perlis. He left the Attorney General’s Chambers thereafter and gained an immense experience in almost every criminal cases ranging from capital punishment offences to serious crimes.
Encik Hasnan Hamzah was called to the Malaysian Bar in 1990 and he started his legal practice in the law firm of Messis. Zainur & Mydien where he was extensively exposed to the civil practice of Medical Negligence, Building Contracts, Arbitration, Insurance and Defamation cases and was tasked to be in charge of institutions/bodies such as UKM, FELCRA and MNI. He had argued cases up to the Federal Court (or Supreme Court as it was previously known) in both civil and criminal matters at this point in time.
In 1996, Encik Hasnan Hamzah joined the firm of Messrs. Hisham, Sobri & Kadir and headed the Corporate and Muamalat Litigation Unit. He was also entrusted to assist the Corporate and Special Unit Department in the said firm. In Messrs. Hisham, Sobri & Kadir, he was also exposed to corporate law, muamalat practices and conveyancing. He was actively involved in several mergers and acquisition assignments, the privatization o f Lembaga Letrik Sabah, several Islamic Debts Securitisation, and Islamic Bonds and was also responsible for initiating, monitoring and advising the developments arm of one public listed company. He was also responsible for institutions/bodies such as TNB, TNEC, PERCON, TH Properties, TM Touch and AMMB.
After 10 years of experience, Encik Hasnan Hamzah set up his own practice. He is currently actively involved in several housing projects negotiations and his criminal and civil practice are currently limited to Counsel’s brief and chosen clientele with specific interests in Securities Commissions and Company Law, AMLA and BAFIA, Corporate Law, Arbitration, Labour Law and Industrial Relations, Building Contracts and Banking cases up to the Federal Court level.
He is also invited to lecture the subject of Criminal Trial and Advocacy for the LLB (Hons) programme at UiTM Shah Alam since 2006 to-date. In 2012, he was also invited to lecture the subject of Criminal Procedure for the final year students of the Faculty of Syariah and Law at Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM) Nilai. In addition, he has been consistently invited as a Speaker by UiTM as well as by the Attorney General’s Chambers of Malaysia to give lectures to the newly appointed Legal Officers at the Institut Latihan dan Perundangan (ILKAP) Bangi.
